Ginapp
An app that allows Gina, a middle-aged woman with a walking disability and a skin condition, to capture images of the things that matter to her, such as her skin condition and accessible locations she enjoys visiting.
Ginapp also enables people with conditions similar to Gina's to keep track of their symptoms, pain levels, and medical information.

This was a three-week summer design project for the DC Design internship. As a UX design coach for this project, we were tasked to help our project partner Gina, a middle-aged woman with a walking disability, track her skin condition. We delivered a functional app that she can download to track her skin condition and capture images of things that matter to her.
Research

As a UX design coach, I led my team to conduct qualitative research. We interviewed our project partner Gina with a disability, and found her pain points by asking thoughtful questions. We took a sample of empathy notes from an interview on the left side.

By applying empathy, we listed the hope, worries, likes, dislikes, and goals based on our interview and notes.

We made 3 different POVs. POV stands for Point of view.

We ranked our 3 POVs as a team by which one we’re most excited to address to least excited to address as a team.

We adjusted our POV based on feedback from our project partner and focused from 3 down to 1.
Ideate

I led my team through the ideation phase and encouraged them to generate as many ideas as possible based on our POV.

Team members built individual prototypes to get a taste of prototyping.

We built App Flows based on individual prototypes and features the team had.

We figured out who would be the main person creating boxes and moving things around so the team could build two wireframes.

We gathered all our thoughts and defined our final app features and flow.

We improved prototypes and prototypes to create the final app wireframe.
Prototype

Based on previous wireframe prototypes and app flows, we created a fully functional, accessible app by Adalo. We designed Ginapp, an app that allows those with conditions similar to Gina's to keep track of their symptoms, pain levels, and medical information. It's an accessible app to make day-to-day life easier for those with disabilities.
Reflection
We learned:
Design thinking, client interaction, problem-solving, team collaboration, and communication skills.
We realized:
We can change the disabled community through empathy, design, and problem-solving.
We believe:
With everyone's participation, we can end the struggles of the disabled community and make the world a better place.

APP DEMo video
This video demonstrates how Ginapp functions. One of my students, Aaron, was the one who made this video. I managed and coached the entire process as a UX Design Coach.
